Yesterday, the Trump Administration proposed replacing an Obama era policy with a new proposal, the Affordable Clean Energy Rule (ACE), a policy that takes a giant step backwards in environmental policy.

"The health and longevity of the people and our planet should be the first concern of our government," says Josh Welle, candidate for New Jersey's 4th congressional district. "Climate change threatens our health, our national security, our economy, and our future. Congressman Chris Smith refuses to acknowledge that rolling back environmental protection directly and adversely affect the people of Central Jersey he claims to represent. Policies like these will destroy our planet for future generations, and Smith is looking away from the problem. It is our duty to hold to our values by continuing our fight to combat climate change and build a clean energy economy that will reduce pollution and create well-paying jobs."

Representative Chris Smith, Welle's opponent in the general election, has voted against numerous proposals on the House floor that would move to strengthen the nation's policy on climate change. This proposal has sparked no remarks from Smith or his campaign for reelection to NJ-4. At the time of this release, there has still been no word from the Smith camp on the multiple requests from the Welle campaign for debates and public forums.

Josh Welle is an Annapolis graduate, Afghanistan veteran, Commander in the Navy Reserve, and former founder of a technology company. He was raised in Wall Township and is a Democratic candidate for New Jersey's 4th Congressional District competing to unseat 37-year incumbent Chris Smith. He lives with his wife, Angela, in Monmouth County, New Jersey.
